Portrait Walk

A delightful mixture of working with real models and a beautiful, natural setting.

Get outside of the studio and apply the basics of our One-Day Portraiture Workshop in a real-world context. This class will focus on shooting on location and utilizing natural light. We will introduce different staging techniques, practice compositional rules, and facilitate open communication between the photographers and models. Spend more time behind the camera and working directly with your subjects.

Prerequisites:

Topics covered:

  • A review of manual mode settings (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO).

  • Environmental portraits.

  • Exploring compositional elements like depth of field and framing.

  • Practicing clear communication between photographer and model.

  • Working in peak natural light hours (the afternoon and golden hour).

What to Bring:

  • Camera with manual mode settings (DSLR, mirrorless, advanced point-and-shoots).

  • Fully charged battery.

  • Empty memory card.

  • Notepad and pen.
