Assignment 4: Series

Gena — Big Sky

I created these images to show where “big sky” meets humanity. I love cloudscapes and I want to be able to learn how to better capture a little bit of the beauty I see after a storm or even in just in an ordinary daytime sky. In each photograph, I tried to show the place where human-made monuments kiss the heavens.

1) Palacios Nazaries, Alhambra
2) El Arenal, Seville
3) Castellana neighborhood, Madrid
4) Rt 95 on the way to the Philly airport
5) El Retiro Park in Madrid

Charley — Tulip Mania

A trip to Tulip Mania at the Gardens at Elm Bank on a sunny Spring day in peak bloom. Not only was there a riot of color among the flowers, but a new lens allowed me to get up close and play with depth of field more than I can with my standard lens. I also enjoyed taking pictures of people from afar, as I could plausibly deny training my camera on them from across the gardens.

Sabrina — Delicate Moments

Fragility in very, very different forms.

Sharon — Vibrant City

I pulled together a series of images that capture a little bit of park life in a vibrant city. I tried to include images that elicit peacefulness and serenity, as well as some that give a sense of the busy pathways filled commuters, tourists and school groups, the daring audacity of squirrels, and the bold color bursts of springtime blooms.

David — Boston Curves (Film)

I really love working with film, it really forces you to slow down and accept the element of alchemy in the results. This was the first assignment where I had enough time to turn around some rolls of film. I set out to find some curves around Boston, and this is what I got!
