Professional Development Series (online)
Workshops for the aspiring professional, side hustler, or driven photographer
Photography is a rewarding hobby, and for many people it can also grow into a side income or a full career. This four-part series covers the business side of photography: how clients find you, how to price your work, how to protect yourself with a contract and get paid on time, and how to deliver your photos so clients come back.
Each session is a live 90-minute class on Zoom built around practical workflows you can use right away. Every class ends with a Q&A, so you can ask about your own situation. Classes are limited to 8 students, which leaves room for real questions and for getting to know other photographers.
You can take all four sessions or choose only the topics that interest you. Can’t join live? Enrolled students receive a recording after each session.

Being a great photographer is only part of the equation. People also need to know you exist. This session covers simple, effective ways to put your work in front of the right audience, from social media and your website to local networking and word of mouth. You’ll learn how to make your business easy to find and easy to hire, whether you’re just starting out or ready to book more clients with confidence.

Thursday, Feb 25, 7:00 to 8:30 pm ET
Pricing is one of the most common questions photographers ask, and one of the hardest to answer when you’re starting out. We’ll break down what goes into a price, including your costs, your time, and what other photographers in your market charge. We’ll also look at how to structure your services, such as hourly rates, packages, and fees for how a client can use your images. You’ll leave with a clear way to work out what to charge and the confidence to say it out loud.
-
Thursday, Mar 4, 7:00 to 8:30 pm ET
Most photographers don’t think about contracts until something goes wrong. A contract is a written agreement that spells out what you’ll deliver, what the client will pay, and what happens if plans change, and it protects both of you. We’ll cover why contracts matter, how to draft one, and where to find reliable templates. We’ll also cover invoicing: how to bill clients professionally, what to include on an invoice, and the tools that help you get paid on time.
-
Thursday, Mar 11, 7:00 to 8:30 pm ET
Taking the photos is just the beginning. How clients preview, choose, and receive their images shapes their impression of you, and it often decides whether they hire you again or recommend you. We’ll look at the most popular ways to share photos with clients, including online galleries and your own website, and how to set up a smooth, professional delivery experience.
