Photo Review: A Collaborative Critique

A discussion-style class for photographers who want fresh eyes on their work

Great photos don't happen in a vacuum, they get better through conversation. In this online, two-hour class, a friendly BPW instructor leads a relaxed, discussion-style session built entirely around student-submitted photos. There's no lecture and no slideshow of someone else's "perfect" shots, just your own images, a supportive group, and real conversation about what's working and what could go further.

Looking at photos together (yours and your classmates') is one of the fastest ways to sharpen your eye. You'll walk away with fresh perspective, a few new tools for talking about images, and ideas you can put to use right away.

What to Expect:

  • Share 2–4 of your own photos with the group

  • Discuss what others notice and respond to in your images

  • Practice giving and receiving constructive feedback

  • Learn fundamental visual concepts: frame, proportion, balance, and more

  • Leave with practical ideas to apply to your next shoot

What You'll Need:

  • 2–4 digital images of your own, ready to share on screen

  • A laptop or tablet with a stable internet connection

  • Notepad and pen (optional, but handy)

Recommended:

Topics Covered:

  • How to give and receive feedback.

  • What to look for when reviewing images.

  • Fundamental visual concepts: frame, proportion, balance, etc.
